Yomi Momoh (b. 1964) is a renowned Nigerian artist known for his colorful acrylic and oil paintings relaying strong visual images of everyday Nigeria.
Momoh studied at the tertiary level to obtain an education specifically in the arts. After this, he completed his General Education obtaining The National Certificate of Education in 1983-1986; this qualified him for admission to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts in the year 1989.
Momoh works across mediums and materials, from sculpting in wood and fiberglass to painting with acrylic and oil. One unmistakable quality present in Momoh’s work is his use of vibrant colors, which manage to reflect the innocence of his scenes providing, a background from which you can see into the artist’s daily lived encounters. Using firm, curved, and fine lines, his subjects are outlined in a deliberate effortless manner.
