Introducing Affinity Art Gallery

As a passionate collector and dealer of African art, I have been able to recognize the grave implications and crippling impact of inadequate representations, institutions and art infrastructures to the growth and visibility of African artists.

It is for these very reasons that I see the need to not only set up a gallery to spotlight artists who are bustling with life and creativity but to also render advisory services to new and existing collectors.

Affinity Art Gallery is a Modern and Contemporary Art gallery offering itself as a reliable liaison and performance space, for the promotion and representation of artists, artistic exchange, cultural exchange, and gallery partnerships. The gallery’s main objectives are, celebrating Nigeria’s modern and contemporary artists and supporting emerging artists by enabling their projects through exhibitions, installations, and presentations.

Affinity Art Gallery’s work expands beyond the gallery’s white walls through a public art education program that focuses on government and private-owned primary and secondary schools across the country. It will include on and off-site excursions educating pupils and students about Africa’s art while highlighting the story of a continent through the artists.

We are pleased to welcome you to ”The Opening,” our inaugural exhibition, showing works from the gallery collection, featuring Master artists like Tola Wewe, Yomi Momoh, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Rufus Ogundele, and more, and Contemporary artists like Tega Akpokona, Chike Obeagu, Emmanuel Ekong Ekeffrey and more.

Open to a much larger audience, the gallery invites you to come along, to experience, and to enjoy the art curated. Art has always been a bridge between persons, communicating what is not often said with words and it is why we are dedicated to embracing and celebrating the collective powers within our community and supporting creatives on our continent with projects like this which enables us to show and educate more people on African art.

Due to the continued need for social distancing as we are still experiencing a global pandemic, I urge everyone to be responsible and respectful of the safety rules put in place during our opening. We are committed to creating an enabling environment that assures our visitors to a pleasant experience.

We will keep you updated with our upcoming exhibitions and engagements through our newsletter and digital platforms.

Thank you.
